Scammers claiming to be from The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) are calling people to gain remote access to computers, personal information or to get some form of payment.

This is a version of a known scam where scammers are using a name of an official organisation, in effort to build trust and obtain money or access to computer systems and information which can then be used for illegal activity.

If you get a call like that, hang up and report it to Netsafe(external link) .

NCSC staff will never ask for any form of payment of financial information.

Protect your personal information and financial details – don’t provide your details to anyone who has contacted you out of the blue. If you are not sure if the person calling is from a legitimate business, verify who they are by finding their contact details from a trustworthy source such as a phone book and contact them directly.
