Tell us what you think and help reduce the risk of harm from fire caused by foam-filled furniture.

Consumer Protection and Trading Standards, part of MBIE (the Ministry of Business, Innovations and Employment) are working with FENZ (Fire and Emergency New Zealand) on ways to reduce the harm caused by domestic fires.

Your experiences

To better understand the risk, we would like to find out more about New Zealanders’ experiences buying and owning foam-filled furniture.

Your feedback

A key part of helping us to understand the risk is a consumer survey which everyone is encouraged to complete. The survey is available(external link) here.

Trading Standards has also published a discussion paper seeking feedback on a proposal to help reduce this risk of harm. You can read the discussion paper and provide your feedback(external link) here.

Your feedback on both of these will help to inform recommendations to Government on how to best reduce the risk of harm to New Zealanders from fire caused by foam-filled furniture.

The survey and submission close 11pm, 31 October 2018.
